Emily Furr
Elementary Dean of Students, Emily Furr, is originally from Rome, Georgia. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia College and State University (2001) and a Masters of Education degree in Teaching & Learning with a Leadership concentration from Liberty University (2015).
Mrs. Furr has been in education since 2001. She has taught in both public and private schools, with over 20 years being in private school education. Mrs. Furr came to Briarwood Academy in the 2016 school year as a k4 paraprofessional. Since being at Briarwood she has taught k4 and first grades, prior to taking the position as Elementary Dean of Students.
Mrs. Furr believes in the importance of the school and home partnership that allows students to have the best educational experience possible. She is thankful to be working at an excellent school with a family atmosphere made up of quality, caring educators. She believes that students perform their best when they are encouraged and supported and loves being a part of their educational experience. Early childhood education gives students the foundation they need to be successful at school and in life, Briarwood provides students with a high quality foundation.
She is married to Dr. Brandon Furr. They have three children: Bethany (Valedictorian and Star Student of Briarwood class of 2023 and a Junior Education major at the University of Georgia), Caleb (Senior at Briarwood) and Greyson (K4 at Briarwood). The Furr family lives in Thomson.
